RESOURCES: Giving
Below are some insights on tithing and giving that may be helpful to you if you've got some questions.
WHY GIVE?Giving is an integral part of our relationship with God.
The Bible teaches us that our baseline standard for giving is the tithe - contributing 10% of our income to the church (Genesis 14:20; Leviticus 27:30-34). At Pathway, we know tithing has been a turning point for many people to experience the blessings of following Jesus (Malachi 3:10). Tithing reminds us that God owns it all. In Psalm 24:1 (NIV) David writes, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it…" Everything belongs to the Lord. When we tithe we acknowledge that God is the owner of all things. When we place our contribution in the offering basket, we're simply taking our hands off what already belongs to him. We are most like God when we give. Kirk Nowery writes in his book, The Giving Christian, "Giving is at the heart of the Christian life, at the heart of the gospel, and at the heart of God. John 3:16 (NIV) says 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son…' God is the infinite and perfect Giver: giving is integral to who He is. And because giving is inherent in God's character, when we give we identify with Him and we reflect His likeness (Genesis 2:26-27)." WHAT HAPPENS TO MONEY THAT YOU GIVE?God provides for the ministry of Pathway Community Church through your tithes and offerings. We honor your gifts with faithful stewardship, ethical business practices, and full accountability so that the financial integrity of Pathway remains beyond reproach. If you'd like to request a copy of our current budget, please email the church office. ONLINE GIVINGThere have been a number of individuals and families who have inquired about online giving at PCC. Thank you for your patience with us as we've taken steps to see it become a reality. Please note that giving online is safe and secure. The steps are easy for you to setup an account and start giving. You can set a reminder to come back each week to give or you can set it up so that you give automatically each week or month. The choice is yours. Why Do We Accept Credit Cards? It's actually our recommendation that you use a debit card instead of a credit card when you give online. In the Financial Peace University course that is offered at Pathway we encourage people to not only stop borrowing money like car loans and personal lines of credit, but also to establish an emergency fund that eliminates the need for a credit card. We strongly discourage those who have ongoing credit card debt from exercising the credit card option. In the near future, you'll be able to give online by having it draw directly from your bank account. OTHER WAYS TO GIVE
